If this doesn’t really mean much to you, here’s a quick explanation. RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’, and it’s a format for distributing and collecting content from diverse places around the internet. Many blogs, magazines and newspapers provide an RSS feed.

You can subscribe to a number of rss feeds and have them displayed in an application known as a News Aggregator. This means that you can see and read new content without having to check all your favourite websites constantly to see if they have been updated. Popular aggregators include Google Reader, NetNewsWire (free version available), and NewzCrawler. Modern browsers such as Firefox and Safari can also function as aggregators.
